Affiliate Marketing is talked about all over the web, but, I see it is not often explained. Let me try.
The terms Affiliate Marketing, Web (or Internet) Marketing, and Article Marketing are pretty much intertwined.
Web Marketing means marketing, using the web as your selling platform, as opposed to marketing on TV, or other media.
Article Marketing is marketing by writing articles to draw traffic to the website from which you sell your product.
Let’s talk about Affiliate Marketing.
Marketing I expect you understand. It is basically selling.
An affiliate is an associate. Rather like a representative. As an affiliate you can receive compensation for more than one kind of action. We will talk about the most common: being the affiliate for a product; either a physical product, or a digital, such as an e-book.
When you find a product you think you could sell, you apply to become an affiliate of the manufacturer of that product, or perhaps for the store that sells the product, Amazon.com for example. You are saying that you will promote the product. In return for your efforts, you will be paid a commission for every customer you send to the store who makes a purchase.
In the simplest of terms, that’s it. I will not get complicated in this article. You can learn details many places, including here on this website.. But, let’s go on and cover a bit more.
In spite of the “millionaire lessons” you can find so easily, becoming a successful Affiliate Marketer does take work. And, there is plenty to learn. The following list will give you an idea of the topics you will need to be proficient in to get going with this.
Finding a niche: A niche is the item or topic you will promote.
Selecting Key Words: Key words are the words that will draw people to your site, and will tell the search engines what the site is about.
Domain selection: A domain is the URL, or address of your site.
Hosting: A web host is where your site lives. It has to actually BE somewhere.
Web site building: Not complicated, generally, but, you can make it that way. It is what it sounds like it is.
SEO – Search Engine Optimization: This is what you do to attract the search engines to your site, so they will in turn show your site on the list they put up for the people who type your keywords into the search bar. Sounds a bit tricky and is!
Article writing: is a very big part of SEO.
On going maintenance: This part of your campaign never ends.
In spite of what those millionaire lessons want you to think, Affiliate Marketing doesn’t bring overnight riches. It takes time, effort and focus. But, it is possible to make a living in this field.
